Clinical Lymphatic Therapy;

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) & Decongestive Lymphatic Therapy (DLT)

Specialist support for swelling, recovery, and long-term lymphatic health

What makes Nicola Louise Osteopathy different

I provide specialist clinical lymphatic therapy for post-operative recovery, lymphoedema, lipoedema, and more complex or persistent swelling.

As a DLT-trained practitioner registered with MLDUK, I deliver the full scope of lymphatic care, including Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD), multi-layer compression bandaging (MCB), and compression garment measurement and fitting.

I have also completed additional specialist training in post-operative lymphatic treatment, supporting recovery following both cosmetic and medical surgery.

Treatment is guided by clinical assessment and tailored to the individual. MLD may be used for both clinical treatment and general support, including relaxation and maintenance, depending on your needs.

What I provide

  • Foundation level: Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD)

Optimisation, Health Maintenance & Fluid Balance

This service is for individuals with a healthy lymphatic system who want to enhance their body’s natural filtration, or for those with well-managed conditions seeking regular maintenance. It is the perfect entry point for those looking to experience the systemic benefits of Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) under the care of a Regulated Health Professional.

This is the right path for you if you are:

Exploring MLD: Seeking the health-optimising benefits of lymphatic drainage for the first time.

Managing Mild Fluid Retention: Addressing seasonal puffiness, travel-related swelling, or "heavy legs."

Supporting Immune Health: Using MLD to assist the body's natural waste-removal and inflammatory response.

Maintaining Stability: Regular "check-in" sessions for controlled Lymphoedema or Lipoedema.

  • Post-Surgical Recovery

Specialist treatment to support recovery following cosmetic or medical surgery.

Don’t leave your recovery to chance. As a dual-qualified Osteopath and Lymphoedema Therapist, I provide clinical-grade post-operative care.

My specialist approach manages the physiological trauma of surgery. I work to prevent complications, optimise your surgical results, and get you back to your life faster.

Why choose a Clinical Specialist for your recovery?

Complication Screening: Expert identification of seromas, hematomas, and abnormal scarring that non-medically trained therapists may miss.

Pathological Drainage: I use advanced techniques to reroute lymphatic fluid when primary pathways have been disrupted by surgery.

Osteopathic Integration: We don't just treat the swelling; we treat the postural pain and stiffness that follows surgery.

Medical Accountability: Regulated, insured, and evidence-based care for your peace of mind.

  • Complex Lymphatic Management (DLT)

Clinical Treatment for Lymphoedema, Lipoedema & Chronic Oedema

For patients managing complex, persistent, or progressive swelling, a standard MLD approach is insufficient. This service provides Decongestive Lymphatic Therapy (DLT)—the gold standard in medical lymphatic care.

As a specialist, I provide a multi-faceted clinical approach to reduce limb volume, improve skin integrity, and prevent the complications associated with chronic swelling.

    Comprehensive Care Includes:

Clinical Mapping: Expert assessment and limb volume monitoring to track progress.

Intensive MLD: Specialised techniques designed for compromised lymphatic pathways.

Compression Management: Selection, measurement, and fitting of medical-grade garments to maintain reduction.

Risk Mitigation: Targeted education on skin care and infection (cellulitis) prevention.

Biomechanical Assessment: Identifying postural "blocks" or joint restrictions that hinder natural drainage.

MSK Integration: Hands-on osteopathic treatment to support the chest, spine, and pelvis—the structural foundations of the lymphatic system.

Prescription Rehabilitation: Bespoke, low-impact exercise programs designed to pump fluid out of the limbs without over-straining the heart or tissues.

Functional Mobility: Improving your range of motion to make daily life (and wearing compression garments) easier and more comfortable.

  • The Intensive Reduction Phase (DLT)

Targeted Decongestive Therapy for significant swelling

For patients requiring rapid limb reduction, this intensive phase of treatment is designed to achieve maximum volume loss in a compressed timeframe.

This phase is designed to "decongest" the system and rapidly reduce limb volume through a structured, high-frequency program.

Intensive MLD & Pathological Mapping: Utilising advanced techniques to reroute fluid where primary lymphatic pathways are damaged or blocked.

Certified MLLB (Bandaging): Expert application of medical-grade "short-stretch" bandages to provide the high-working pressure needed for volume reduction.

Precision Volume Tracking: Baseline limb measurements and ongoing "mapping" to document clinical progress and fluid loss.

Garment Transition Planning: Professional measurement and fitting for long-term maintenance compression once the reduction goal is reached.

    Investment in Reduction

Due to the specialist equipment and clinical time required, these sessions are booked as a structured intensive block.

    Interventions available:
